Pencil Pine ( Athrotaxis cupressoides), Tasmania

The pencil pine is an endemic native to Tasmania and is typically found in sub-alpine areas above 800 metres. These ancient specimens are from the higher altitudes on the Central Plateau where the weather conditions are often severe.
